Terms of Use

The rules for using the Directory — for everyone who visits, and the additional terms that apply to attorneys who list here.

01Agreement

These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and [Company legal name] ("we," "us"), which operates AIPrivacyLawyers.com (the "Directory"). By using the Directory, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Directory.

02We're a directory, not a law firm

We don't provide legal services or legal advice, and we aren't a lawyer referral service. Nothing on the Directory creates an attorney-client relationship between you and us, or between you and any listed attorney. That relationship only begins when you and an attorney agree to it directly, usually in a written engagement letter.

03Using the site

You may use the Directory to find and contact attorneys for your own or your organization's legal needs. You agree not to:

  • scrape, copy, or bulk-download listings, or use them to build a competing directory or marketing list;
  • send spam, solicitations, or unrelated marketing to listed attorneys through the inquiry forms;
  • submit false information, impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your affiliation;
  • interfere with the site's security or operation, or try to access accounts or data that aren't yours;
  • use the Directory for any unlawful purpose.

We may limit or block access for anyone who breaks these rules.

04Additional terms for listed attorneys

Eligibility and verification

To be listed, you must be licensed and in good standing in at least one US jurisdiction, and AI, data privacy, or algorithmic risk law must be a genuine, ongoing part of your practice. You authorize us to verify your bar status and review publicly available disciplinary records. We may decline any application at our discretion.

Your profile

  • You're responsible for the accuracy of your profile and for complying with the professional conduct and advertising rules of every jurisdiction where you're admitted.
  • You'll promptly update your profile, or tell us, if your license status changes or your practice focus no longer fits the Directory.
  • You grant us a non-exclusive license to display your profile content on the Directory and in materials promoting it, for as long as you're listed.
  • We may edit profiles for format and length, and may remove content that is misleading or violates these terms.

Fees

Listing fees are described on our Pricing page. Fees are for placement in the Directory only. We never charge a referral fee or take any share of fees from engagements that result from an inquiry. Billing, renewal, and cancellation terms: [term length, auto-renewal, notice period, refund policy].

Inquiries

Inquiries are delivered directly to you. We don't screen them and make no promise about the number or quality of inquiries you'll receive. You are solely responsible for running conflicts checks and deciding whether to accept any matter.

Removal

We may suspend or remove a listing if your license lapses, you face public discipline, your practice no longer fits the Directory, you fail to pay, or you breach these terms. [State whether any refund applies on removal.]

05Content & ownership

The Directory's design, text, and code belong to us or our licensors. Attorneys own their profile content. You may share links to listings, but not reproduce the Directory or substantial parts of it.

Links to third-party sites are for convenience; we're not responsible for their content or practices.

06Disclaimers

The Directory is provided "as is" and "as available." Beyond the verification steps described on our About page, we don't endorse, recommend, or guarantee any attorney, and we make no warranty that listings are complete, current, or error-free. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

07Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from legal services provided by an attorney you found through the Directory. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Directory is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or $[100].

You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your misuse of the Directory or, for listed attorneys, from your profile content or legal services.

08General terms

  • Governing law: these terms are governed by the laws of [State], and disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in [County, State]. [Or replace with an arbitration clause.]
  • Changes: we may update these terms. We'll post the new effective date, and notify listed attorneys by email at least [30] days before material changes take effect.
