Privacy Policy
We run a directory for privacy lawyers, so we've tried to make this one readable. It explains what we collect, why, who sees it, and what you can ask us to do with it.
01Who we are
AIPrivacyLawyers.com (the "Directory," "we," "us") is operated by [Company legal name], [entity type and state of formation], located at [street address, city, state ZIP]. We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy.
We are a directory, not a law firm. When you contact an attorney through the Directory, that attorney handles your information under their own privacy practices and professional obligations.
02What we collect
If you browse the Directory
- Device and usage data: IP address, browser type, pages viewed, search filters used, referring page, and approximate location derived from IP.
If you contact an attorney or us
- Contact details: name, email address, and company.
- Message content: whatever you write in the inquiry or contact form. Please keep it general — see the disclaimer.
If you're an attorney who applies or is listed
- Profile information: name, firm, contact details, states of admission, bar numbers, practice areas, industries, biography, and representative matters you provide.
- Verification information: results of bar status and public disciplinary record checks, and any references or materials you submit.
- Billing information: billing contact and payment details, which are processed by our payment provider, [e.g. Stripe]. We don't store full card numbers.
03How we use it
| Purpose | Information used |
|---|---|
| Operate the directory and deliver inquiries to attorneys | Contact details, message content |
| Review applications and verify attorneys | Profile and verification information |
| Publish attorney profiles | Profile information the attorney chooses to display |
| Bill listed attorneys | Billing information |
| Respond to messages and support requests | Contact details, message content |
| Keep the site secure and prevent abuse | Device and usage data |
| Understand how the site is used and improve it | Device and usage data |
| Comply with legal obligations | Any of the above, as required |
We don't use the content of inquiries to profile you, and we don't use personal information to train AI models. [Confirm both statements are true for your stack and vendors.]
04Who we share it with
- The attorney you contact. Your inquiry goes to that attorney and no one else.
- The public, for attorney profiles. Profile information an attorney chooses to publish is visible to anyone. Bar numbers and billing details are never published.
- Service providers who host the site, send email, process payments, and provide analytics, under contracts limiting their use of the data: [list categories or vendors].
- Legal and safety. When required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of users or the Directory.
- Business transfers. If the Directory is sold or merged, information may transfer to the new owner under this policy.
We don't sell personal information and don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We don't sell inquiry leads to attorneys or anyone else. [Confirm before publishing.]
05Cookies & analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary to run the site, and [analytics provider, e.g. a privacy-focused analytics tool] to understand aggregate usage. [If you use any advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, describe them here and add a consent banner.]
We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signals as a request to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information.
06How long we keep it
- Inquiry forms: [e.g. 12 months] after delivery, for abuse prevention and support.
- Attorney profiles and verification records: for as long as the listing is active, plus [e.g. 3 years].
- Billing records: as long as required for tax and accounting purposes.
- Usage data: [e.g. 26 months] in aggregated or pseudonymized form.
07Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- know what personal information we hold about you and get a copy;
- correct inaccurate information;
- delete your information;
- opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising (we don't do these, but you may still ask);
- appeal a decision we make about your request.
To make a request, email privacy@aiprivacylawyers.com. We'll verify your identity before acting and respond within the time the applicable law requires. You can use an authorized agent, and we won't discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Listed attorneys can edit or remove most profile information themselves at any time.
08Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls, and vendor review to protect personal information. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information, we'll notify you as the law requires.
09Children & international users
The Directory is for adults and businesses. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
The Directory is operated in the United States and lists US-admitted attorneys. If you use it from outside the US, your information will be processed in the US. [If you target EU/UK users, add GDPR legal bases and transfer mechanisms here.]
10Changes & contact
If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top and, for listed attorneys, notify you by email before they take effect.
Questions: privacy@aiprivacylawyers.com or [mailing address].
